Relaxation Exercise

I have tried to meditate in the past...but found it very difficult to quiet my mind...I was constantly thinking of other things and found that the same issue kept happening during this relaxation exercise. After a few minutes, I was able to concentrate a bit better and focus on the instructions being given (the music and the voice of the instructor were quite soothing).  During the exercise, I was able to relax a little and did experience a sensation of warmth move through my body; but did not get the "heaviness" feeling the instructor spoke about.  Did anyone have the same experience? I don't feel that I was as successful as I wanted...I tried the exercise a few times.  The fourth time I tried, I felt I was better able to focus and felt that I achieved a certain degree of relaxation.
Quieting the mind is key in this exercise and to have your mind focus on the task at hand...I guess this takes practice. Meditation is something I want to be able to incorporate into my daily life; it's time you take out for yourself...for your well being and hope that with practice I will be able to get the results I want.  Has anyone tried meditation before? How was your experience with this exercise? I would love to get some insight on this so it can help me on this journey!

I too had a little struggle with relaxing but for me I found his voice almost comical. I couldn't relax because of his voice. I'm the kind of person that needs it quiet to relax or some soft music without any words. That usually helps me the best. But like I said in my blog...To each their own, if it works for others and they can benefit from it then it's serving its purpose. BTW...I like the setup of your blog. Nice ;-)

  2. Hi Ali,

My main issue was quieting my mind...I struggle to stop my thoughts. When the setting is right for you (no comical voice distracting you ;)) are you able to relax and clear your mind? Do you have any difficulty with mind chattering?
